Welcome to The Herbweavers Journal #01 - 30th Sept 2024
I’ve been thinking about blogging for some time and just never got round to it, not because it doesn’t interest me, but because as the name suggests I love herbs and foraging and in the UK that means spending a lot of time weeding, growing and nurturing in not that great weather. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fair weather witch by any means, but it does take longer when your cold and soaking wet!!
Anyway I thought to mark the first day of my new look and streamlined website, I’d take the broomstick by the handle and crack on with it at last.
I have been nurturing a particular plant that didn’t seem to be doing so well in the wild this year and was non existent in my garden, namely the trusty witches companion herb - Mugwort.
I use an awful lot of Mugwort, because not only does it have lots of magical attributes like protection, strength and healing, but it is also a spell booster, so a pinch in any spell will amplify the outcome you desire, it is also great in tea if you struggle to meditate or want to astrally project. Health wise it has been used for anxiety, in sleep teas mixed with valerian root, chamomile or peppermint. Also for colic, and as an anti-inflammatory. Mugwort contains antioxidants and vitamins that hеlp combat frее radicals and these are rеsponsiblе for many issues we suffer, but free radicals also damage hair and cause hair loss, so if your thinning on top, have a think about making your own hair shampoo or hair tea with Mugwort.
Having spent quite a bit of time tracking down Mugwort this year around where I live, me and Mr Wiccan Lady, went to offer our services on my son’s new allotment and low and behold, there was several plants of Mugwort growing, not only growing, but doing exceptionally well. Anyway, he seemed quite relieved when we started digging it up and said we would remove it for him. 3 plants dug in at home, all doing very well and 3 brand new shoots coming along a treat on the window sill too. We did of course leave a couple of plants with our son, just in case he wants to start his own Mugwort farm, or on the small off chance our plants didn’t take once back home.
Anyway, I’ve already taken a harvest and started drying it and can’t wait to see what next year brings for my glorious plants.
