Magical Energy #23 - 6th Nov 2024
Have you ever wondered what a Ley lines actually is? The theory is that straight lines connect significant locations around the planet, such as ancient monuments and landmarks. The idea originated in the 1920s with Alfred Watkins, an amateur archaeologist and photographer, who noticed lines connecting ancient sites in the United Kingdom. Watkins believed that ancient people built these sites in a deliberate pattern for navigation. The term "ley line" actually comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for "ley", which means "a clearing in the woods". It is believed that these ancient people would travel in a straight line between notable landmarks, such as burial mounds, rivers, and religious buildings, to navigate a terrain without roads or signs. Don’t forget there was no street lighting, roads and signs to follow all those years back, the UK especially was mainly laid to farm land and woods, so these points would have been clear indicators of how to get from one place to another safely.
It is believed that in the UK alone, monuments such as Stonehenge, Glastonbury Tor, Glastonbury Abbey and Avebury are all on a ley line, as is Rudston Monolith near Bridlington, St Michael’s Mount, The Rolling Right stones and Llanddwyn Island on the coast of Anglesey. Also nine ladies stone circle in Derbyshire, Aviemore Ring Cairn and Stone Circle and lots of other spiritual and historical places.
Ley lines are not just contained within the UK, they link famous places from all over the World, like the Egyptian Pyramids, the Mayan temples, the standing stones of Carnac, the monuments of Delphi and so many other beautiful and energy laden places.
